23rd June is the annual celebration of International Women in Engineering Day, an international campaign of visibility, which aims to raise the profile of women engineers and encourage more people to consider engineering as a profession for all.
EEE's celebrations for INWED22
This year's celebration was suggested by EEE PhD student rep, Kate. It is inspired by the idea of a wish tree, which exists across many traditions and cultures.
We will be creating an installation in our foyer, where all staff and students are invited to leave a short message for International Women in Engineering Day.
For example:
- a celebration of a woman engineer — a fellow student, a colleague, researcher, teacher, a historical or contemporary figure
- a thank you to anyone who inspires you from outside engineering
- a message of support from a male ally
- a wish for the future
- words of encouragement to girls and young women considering STEM subjects at school or university
If you're not on campus to write and hang up your message in person, you can submit your message online and we will add it to the display.
